Introduction to Electromagnetic Waves
Overview
This lesson introduces the electromagnetic waves. This lesson will take two days since there are many electromagnetic waves that need to be covered; the electromagnetic waves with shorter wavelengths than visible light are covered on the first day, and the rest will be covered on the second day. The waves that will be covered include radio waves, microwaves, infrared, ultraviolet, x-rays, and gamma rays. Applications of electromagnetic waves will be introduced to students in order for them to feel more familiar with the material. Applications will help students to relate more to the contents they have been learning, and this will engage students to learn more about the waves.
Standards
AAAC
There are a great variety of electromagnetic waves: radio waves, microwaves, infrared waves, visible light, ultraviolet rays, X-rays, and gamma rays. These wavelengths vary from radio waves, the longest, to gamma rays, the shortest. 4F/M8
